• The law on copyright for music is 10% of the total time of the song, for example if a song was 100seconds long then the copyright law would be at maximum of 10 seconds. You have copyrights 70 years after your death or 95 years in total. Having copyrights to a song or lyrics means that no one can reproduce your own work. No one can make a profit from your work, no one can call your work their own and no one can perform this music without your permission. The year of public domain music is 1922. Also public domain means that anyone can use your work or reproduce your work. One case of famous people in infringement is when Johnny Cash copied one of Gordon Jenkins songs from his album. He used lines word from word in his songs; it took 15 years to finally settle the copyright laws.
